Found Object Art: Sourcing Resiliency Workshop with Ms. Guilbert Mondays at 2:30pm 4/27, 5/4, 5/11

We are in a moment of big transitions and changes. We quickly went from business as usual to staying home, social distancing, and losing access to familiar places and resources. In one way or another, each of us has had to get creative in order to stay connected, stay motivated, and cope with stressors. When big changes happen it’s common to feel frustrated, overwhelmed, worried, or confused. As we move through difficulties and hard feelings another thing tends to happen,  we become resilient. Resiliency is our ability to grow, overcome, and find creative solutions to challenges. In this creative arts and coping workshop we will be making art from found objects as a means to explore our resiliency in this challenging time.

Resiliency looks like: Seeing possibilities vs. restrictions, taking care of ourselves, helping others, trying new things, sharing joy & humor, asking for help and support, being a friend, making things, and appreciating the little things.

The Materials: Look around your home and yard and gather items to use for art making. Depending on the materials you find you might choose to make a sculpture, installation, collage, costume, or anything else you can think of!

If you have a yard you might look for: rocks, flowers, leaves, or twigs

In your home look for:  art materials, recyclables, and items that can be re-purposed.

Make sure your art items are safe and non-toxic. Be sure to ask for permission before re-purposing household items.
