COURSE DESCRIPTION: In this class, students are exposed to theater in its many forms, including traditional masked theatre, puppetry, voice acting, improvisation and scripted acting. Students will read works from well-known and lesser-known playwrights, and will learn how to conceptualize and write their own short dramatic works.


Grade: 11-12 or instructor permission

Semester: Year long course

Credit: 1.0 elective.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: In this course, students will gain the experience of participating in several performances throughout the year. Students will have the opportunity to refine their acting skills as well as gain experience in the technical fields of theatre such as lighting, sound effects and stage management. Students will prepare monologues, songs and resumes to prepare them for auditions in community theatre.

Semester: Semester long course paired with New Mexico History

Credit: 0.5 elective.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: In this course, students become familiar with the many types of speeches. They will learn to craft and deliver original speeches as well as interpret and perform published works. Students will also create a resume and get practice experience being interviewed for jobs.
