Hello DATA community!

Reminder on Fridays this semester will be work virtually from home and the schedule will be as follows (PLEASE READ):

  • 8:00 – 8:45 Advisory – Teachers will check-in with students, discuss what work they plan on working on that day, discuss how they will seek support from during office hours or support time.  We will also do grade checks during this time.  Teachers will TAKE ROLL during this time and if the student does not attend, they will be marked absent for the day. This is done through DISCORD – not in person.
  • 8:50 – 9:50 Virtual Office Hours – Time to meet with teachers online about work, needs, etc.
  • 10:00 – 11:30 In-person or virtual Support.  This period of time can be used for in-person or virtual support with teachers.  IF A STUDENT WANTS TO COME IN FACE TO FACE please let administration know before that Friday so we can add them to a list.  Students are NOT to show up at school unannounced on Fridays.  Secondly, students can come to school and stay until 3pm if they let us know ahead of time, however, they MAY NOT be receiving direct teacher support during the hours of 11:30 – 12:30 which is teacher lunch time, and then 12:30 – 3:30 would be teacher Collaboration and work time, but may be able to set up something with teachers ahead of time.
  • Breakfast and Lunch will NOT be served on this day.
  • Field trips, in-person learning (if a teacher invites students in for labs, art projects, etc.), and other activities may also take place on Fridays.  These will be communicated to students ahead of time.

Reminder of a change that will take place in Flex time:

Students who are failing classes are REQUIRED to either attend the teacher’s flex time tutoring or go to the west lab and work on their work quietly during at least two flex periods a week.  We want to make sure that we are helping students use time wisely at school, and also that they are getting the help they need.  We appreciate parent support in reminding and encouraging students to attend Flex time for help.

Wednesday mornings will no longer be an advisory for students, that will take place on Friday mornings instead, therefore allowing more time for students to get tutoring and help from teachers.

Here is a reminder about phones:

Teachers will be asking students to either turn in phones or put them away in class.  The teacher will determine when the phone is allowed to be out and otherwise the default action is to have them away . If the students’ phones are out without permission, the teacher will ask for it and keep it the remainder of the day.  If the student refuses, the student will be sent to administration and their phone will be confiscated and their guardian(s) called.  If it happens again, the phone will be turned in to administration at the beginning of the day at flex every day and then returned to the student at the end of the day.

Thank you, again, SO MUCH for your continued support and understanding in these times.  We recognize there is a lot of stress and frustration amongst everyone lately and we want to try and help and support as much as possible.  If you need anything, please let the school know.   It is our hope that we can encourage our students and help them succeed this school year.  Thanks!
