We are down to the last two weeks of school and have some updates around the end of the year and January return. This letter contains lots of important information and updates, so please hang on until the end. 🙂
Holiday Giving
As a reminder, we will be taking cash donations for families in need. Donations can be left at the front desk or sent to Kristin Reeder via PayPal or Venmo. Ms. Reeder has offered to facilitate the convenient electronic transfer of money. One hundred percent of the money you donate will go directly to families.

Exams
End of Quarter 2 projects and exam prep will begin on December 18th, ending with final exams on the 20th and 21st (Wednesday/Thursday). The 22nd will be used for make-up exams or to finish out end-of-quarter projects. Semester 1 grades will be posted to transcripts in January.
Art Exhibition
On Wednesday, December 13th DATA will be holding its first Winter Arts Exhibition from 5-7 pm showcasing work from 10th, 11th, and 12th graders. The front lobby will be transformed into a gallery space for 2D and 3D art. The west lab will display a variety of digital artwork, and Ms. Yeo’s room will present a schedule of theatrical and cinematic work. All DATA families are invited and refreshments will be provided. Also, if you are able, consider bringing a donation of non-perishable snacks (granola bars, goldfish crackers, trail mix, etc.) to support our High Dosage Tutoring afterschool math program. We hope to see you there to share in a celebration of DATA’s student artists!
Winter Break
Winter break begins December 25th and ends January 8th. Students return on January 9th. They will follow their Quarter 1 schedule. These schedules will be available in PowerSchool.
January Dates
January 8th is an in-service day for staff. There is no school for students. Students’ first day back on campus will be January 9th. This is the beginning of Quarter 3 which ends on March 14th.
January 15th is a holiday (Martin Luther King Jr. Day) for staff and students. There is no school that day.
High Dosage Tutoring Program
Our High Dosage tutoring program for Algebra 1 happens every Monday and Tuesday after school. For more information, email Ms. Cote at sue.cote@datacharter.org
Counseling Changes
We are very sad to announce that our counselor, Ms. Cindy, was offered an exciting job opportunity elsewhere. Today (December 8th) was her last day. We are going to miss her tremendously. Ms. Reeder and Ms. Laura will be picking up her caseload until we hire a new counselor. We have some fantastic applicants and hope to bring someone on board in January. Please email counseling@datacharter.org if you need to reach a counselor.Â
Family Surveys
The DATA Family Wellbeing Survey closes on December 15th. This survey allows us to get feedback from families, staff, and students about well-being and school satisfaction.

Dual Credit
During Intervention time on December 13, Ms. Reeder will be hosting a session for interested students in grades 9-11 to apply to CNM for dual credit. Students will also have an opportunity to take the Accuplacer placement test at this time. Allow approximately 30 minutes for the CNM application and 60-90 minutes for the Accuplacer. Ms. Reeder can also offer information on course selection and prerequisites for college courses at this time.
*Students need to know their social security number and permanent address (not a PO Box) to complete the CNM application. If you do not have a social security number, Ms Reeder can provide alternate instructions.
**Students need to know their 9-digit CNM ID number to take the Accuplacer test. If you have applied before, bring your ID number!
