Welcome back DATA Families,

We hope you had a restful break and are excited to be back on campus.  Thank you to all who participated in and attended our first annual Winter Art Exhibition here at DATA.  It’s always wonderful to have families in our building, and we had so much incredible student talent on display for all to see.  A big shoutout to our CTE teachers (Ms. Holloway, Ms. Reynolds, Mr. Rudolph, Ms. Yeo, Mr. Woody, Ms. Shields and Ms. Buehler) who worked hard with their students to get this exhibit up and running. Stay tuned for their spring exhibit!  We’re also excited to announce that Ms. Godfrey (math) and Ms. Reynolds (CTE) are collaborating to offer Project S.O.S – Safeguard Our Satellites.  Students participating in Project S.O.S. work collaboratively with the Airforce Research Lab and the NM + Hyperspace Challenge to create art pieces that shine a spotlight on the critical role satellites and other space assets play in modern life.  This project features guest speakers from the Rhode Island School of Design and NASA.  For more information on this design challenge, contact Ms. Godfrey (michelle.godfrey@datacharter.org) or Ms. Reynolds (eileen.reynolds@datacharter.org).

No School

As a reminder we are off on Monday, January 15th in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Grades

Grades are being finalized and are due to our registrar by today, Friday the 12th.  Grades will be posted to Powerschool and transcripts by next week.

Advisory

We are making some changes to high school advisory.  Advisory will be moved to the morning, and reduced by 15 minutes.  These 15 minutes will be added to instruction throughout the day. Our hope is this morning advisory time provides a consistent place for students to land when they arrive in the morning, so they can get settled and ready for the day.  Advisory is still mandatory and attendance will be taken. The new schedule starts Monday, and will be as follows:

Flex:  8 – 8:15

Advisory:  8:20 – 8:50

1st:  8:55 – 10:15

2nd:  10:20 – 11:40

Lunch:  11:40 – 12:25

3rd: 12:30 – 1:50

4th:  1:55 – 3:15
